THE BEST LEADERS, THE WORST LEADERS & YOU
with Bill Sanford, Bell Leadership

Thank you for your interest and participation! I hope you had fun discussing and learning about some of the best (and worst) leaders — and also thinking about yourself, your business, and your family.

The first secret to building a great business, a great family, and a great life is to build your personal effectiveness in the areas that matter most. The second secret is to do the same for your people — key leaders and family members.

Here are a few quick thoughts for applying what we discussed:

  • Figure out what skills to build. There are six sets of things the best leaders do. Adding a skill or shoring up a weak area to be more like your best leader is a good place to start.
  • Figure out what “bad habits” or ineffective patterns to reduce. Our weaknesses can be extremely costly, especially when in a big job. Pick one of your worst leader’s habits that you sometimes do and focus on eliminating that one.
  • Supplement your own ideas with rich, honest, confidential feedback from your closest friends and associates; they often see things we don’t.
  • Commit to building yourself. Put it on your calendar. Don’t wait for the right time, or for things to slow down. You have one time at bat; why not invest in yourself to make the most of it?

For more information on Bell Leadership, our landmark Achievers seminar, and a way to connect with us, please see below. I also would like to connect with you on LinkedIn. If you have any questions or need any additional support as you continue to build yourself and your people, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Achievers™ includes the Bell Personality Profile, a confidential 360-degree assessment to solicit feedback from your associates that provides personal and practical insights for how to improve your leadership and management style. Honest feedback improves self-awareness. Within the framework of the Achiever Model™, you will gain a greater understanding of your leadership style as compared to the best leaders in the world.

TAKE AN INSIDE LOOK AT ACHIEVERS

After conducting more than 50 years of extensive research with thousands of CEOs and senior leaders, we honed in on the driving factors of the most effective leaders that lead successful businesses and the behaviors associated with less effective leaders of businesses that ultimately dissolve. This research and learning is the basis of The Bell Leadership Mastery Series®, 8 programs that are the essential building blocks of leadership mastery.

We would love to help you continue to build your leadership skills.
