A Different Kind of Peak Performance
At the highest levels of leadership, professional effectiveness and personal effectiveness are difficult to separate. The demands of work affect the rest of life, and the choices we make outside of work shape the energy, judgment, perspective and resilience we bring to leadership. Peak performance, then, is not simply about getting more done. It is about having the clarity to know what matters, the discipline to focus your time and energy accordingly, and the perspective to build a life that supports sustained success.
In March 2027, Dr. Gerald D. Bell will personally lead a special two-day edition of Peak Performance and Complex Lives, part of Bell Leadership’s Leadership Mastery Series. Drawing on more than five decades of research into leadership, effectiveness and human performance, Dr. Bell will guide participants through his 7 Domains of Happiness, a framework for examining the interconnected areas of life that influence how effectively we lead, perform and live.
This is a rare opportunity to learn directly from Dr. Bell in an intimate, in-person setting. Peak Performance and Complex Lives is not offered in person every year, and opportunities to participate in a program personally led by Dr. Bell are increasingly limited.
Over two days, participants will step away from the demands of day-to-day leadership to take stock, think strategically and make intentional decisions about what they want the next chapter of their professional and personal lives to look like.
A Framework Built on Research and a Lifetime of Experience
Dr. Bell began studying happiness as part of a much larger question that has shaped his life’s work: What allows some people to become exceptional leaders while also building successful, satisfying lives?
As part of that research, he interviewed thousands of individuals, including older adults who could look back across decades of decisions, successes, disappointments and change. Their experiences helped inform what became Dr. Bell’s 7 Domains of Happiness and his thinking about the choices and priorities that contribute to a life well lived.
Today, Dr. Bell brings another perspective to that research: his own.
After more than five decades of studying leaders, teaching executives and applying these ideas in his own life, he brings together research, observation and lived experience in a way that makes this particular offering of Peak Performance and Complex Lives unique.
The result is not a formula for “balance.” It is a practical framework for thinking more clearly about what matters, recognizing the tradeoffs inherent in a complex life, and making better choices about where to invest your time, attention and energy.

What to Expect
Two Days to Step Back and Think Strategically
This is an in-person, highly interactive experience designed to give you something leaders rarely have enough of: dedicated time to step away from immediate demands and think strategically about your own performance, priorities and future.
Through discussion, reflection and practical exercises personally facilitated by Dr. Bell, you will apply the concepts to your own circumstances and begin translating insight into action.
The two-day format is intentionally concentrated, providing a meaningful opportunity for reflection and planning while making the program easier to incorporate into a demanding professional schedule.
Come Prepared to Get the Most from the Experience
Prior to the program, participants will complete pre-work designed to prompt reflection on current priorities, goals and circumstances. This preparation provides a starting point for the program and allows participants to make their two days with Dr. Bell as personal, practical and productive as possible.
