Extraco and Bell Leadership Partner on Training
Alex Eichenberg of Extraco Banks and Bill Sanford of Bell Leadership Institute recently completed a series of half-day training sessions on listening for each of the nearly 400 employees of Extraco Banks. Participants learned practical techniques for listening and communicating more effectively with customers, associates, and family members.
Eichenberg, EVP, Director of Human Resources, began the program with a series of introductory sessions in the spring. Sanford, Leadership Trainer and Speaker, then joined Eichenberg for sessions held in Waco and Temple in June, July, and August. The training is part of an initiative in which each of Extraco’s employees is interviewing community members to learn more about their thoughts, habits, and challenges around money, as well as areas where they would most like help.
“This exercise is as much about educating ourselves about how customers think as it is about feedback collection, maybe more. We want the interactions to be authentic and natural,” states Eichenberg.
“Listening is easily one of the five most important skills a person can learn, and it is one of the most difficult to master,” adds Sanford. “Extraco is clearly demonstrating its commitment not only to its employees, but also to the customers and communities they serve.”
