Dr. Bell Provides Leadership Development for UNC's Wood Scholars
Beginning his illustrious career at the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, Dr. Gerald Bell has remained committed to supporting the students and leadership initiatives of the university. Leonard Wood, a long-term client and friend of Dr. Bell, established both The Leonard W. Wood Center for Real Estate Studies and the Wood Scholars Program at UNC. Recently, Dr. Bell provided leadership training for this year’s group of Wood Scholars. Seven students completed a Strengths and Weaknesses Survey that Dr. Bell then reviewed with them, teaching important lessons in personal leadership development. He also participated in the Wood-Cole Scholars’ Reception and Dinner, giving his positive and encouraging support to the 32 Wood-Cole Scholars.
Marcia Harris spoke on behalf of the Wood-Cole Scholarship Program in her praise of Dr. Bell. “I want to thank you so very much for your sessions with the Scholars last Friday and yesterday evening. You are so inspirational to these students! They have commented to me that they not only benefit from the 360 Review and your leadership advice, but admire you greatly and love your positivity! You, as well as Leonard Wood, are truly wonderful role models, and we are most grateful that you are willing to share your time and wisdom with them.”
The Wood Scholars Program bolsters the leadership potential of select high-achieving students who have demonstrated financial need. The program supports scholars’ road to success through:
- Guidance in creating a personalized career plan from a professional development coach

- Tuition support of $7,000 per year, renewable for up to four years

He is a frequently requested speaker, trainer and consultant to leading companies, both at home and abroad. In addition, Dr. Bell’s counsel has been sought for decades by both the Young Presidents’ Organization and Entrepreneurs’ Organization, indicating that his principles remain current yet timeless.
